We recently talked with Rob, our field engineer, who just came back from Saudi Arabia after supporting the installation and commissioning of our date sorting equipment.
*All photos were taken by Rob at the airport and around the local site with his phone.
Here’s the conversation:
JGY: Hi Rob, welcome back! What was the purpose of your trip to Saudi Arabia?
Rob: Thanks! I went there to help our local partner set up and fine-tune our date sorting machine.
JGY: What kinds of dates does the factory mainly process?
Rob: They handle some very well-known varieties: Ajwa, Safawi, Majdool, Khudri, and Sukkary. Each one looks a bit different, and that’s where our equipment makes sorting much easier and more precise.

JGY: How was the cooperation with the local operators?
Rob: Really good. Most of them are from India and Pakistan. They speak English quite well, and they learned how to operate the machine in just two days.
JGY: And the maintenance team—did you give them training too?
Rob: Yes, of course. Before leaving, we showed them the basic maintenance steps and shared written notes. This way they can handle regular checks with confidence.
JGY: So they can run the equipment smoothly now?
Rob: Absolutely. The operators are confident, and our machine is designed to be user-friendly. No need to worry.

JGY: Did you also get to see a bit of Saudi Arabia after work?
Rob: A little, yes. I visited a park by the Red Sea. On Friday evening, the park was full of people camping, chatting, and enjoying the sea breeze. It was very lively.
JGY: How’s the climate compared to Riyadh?
Rob: It’s more humid near the Red Sea. It was hot outdoors, but the air conditioning in the hotel and the factory was very strong—always comfortable inside.
JGY: How about the local food? Did you try something new?
Rob: I did! I tried chicken rice, which is like a hand-eaten rice dish, and also pasta at an Egyptian restaurant. Both were delicious.

JGY: Overall, how do you feel about this trip?
Rob: Very positive. The work went smoothly, the equipment is running well, and the local team is ready. Plus, I enjoyed seeing a bit of the culture and scenery.
JGY: Great to hear! Thanks for sharing, Rob. Enjoy your holiday!
Rob: Thank you—I will!
